Guidelines for use of the Library Computers

Computer UseThe library computers are for academic use only. Those wishing to use them for recreational purposes, including the playing of games and accessing email, should use the IT Centre. Users must be prepared to present their library cards on request, and to justify to the librarian their intended use of the computer.

The following are considered appropriate uses of the facility:

THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY:

The following are forbidden: accessing inappropriate web sites; breaching stated copyright restrictions; downloading unauthorised software; attempting to gain unauthorised access to other computer networks; attempting to spread computer viruses; purchasing goods or services online.

Access to the computer network is a considerable privilege. Pupils who fail to comply with these rules will be barred from further use of the facility for a suitable period of time.

USE OF LIBRARY LAPTOPS
Laptops are available for loan in the Lower School and Wodehouse Libraries. They may be used in the quiet part of the library only, on production of a library card and at the discretion of the librarian on duty. In the Wodehouse Library they should where possible be used in study carrels, where they are kept throughout the day.

While on loan a laptop is the responsibility of the borrower: it should not be left unattended or loaned to another individual. The laptop is loaned for individual, and not group use - there should be no crowding around a machine. It should be returned to a librarian in person as soon as you have finished using it.
The usual rules governing use of computers in the library apply.

In addition to the above, computer use in the libraries is governed by the College's ICT Acceptable Use Policy.
